Gulfshore Opera is your regional opera company, deeply embedded in the lifestyle of Southwest Florida residents and visitors from Port Charlotte to Marco Island. We nurture an appreciation for the classical vocal arts through affordable and accessible concerts, meaningful education initiatives, and a welcoming social environment for all to enjoy. However, ticket sales cover only half the cost of the programs and events we provide to you and your community. Your continued support ensures that we can keep delivering high-quality performances and educational opportunities that enrich the cultural fabric of our region.

Harmony Choir
The Harmony Choir is our youth development program that encourages personal confidence and social skills through introductory music lessons, choral participation, and performance. This program augments existing after-school programs in partnership with other non-profit organizations and is delivered at no cost to participants. Activities include choral singing, vocal instruction, musicianship skills, and percussion activities. Qualified music education teachers lead the classes, and participants perform at various community events.
Talented Teens
Talented Teens may audition to participate in our new performance class, a junior division of the Emerging Artist program. It provides training and performance opportunities to talented young performers in our community. Participants receive individualized studies and performance opportunities. The program helps the students develop tools for success, such as poise, stage presence, and confidence, which allows them to explore increased opportunities as vocal soloists. Other Ways to Contribute

Emerging Artists
Emerging Artists Training Program (ages 16 +) provides private classical voice training and performance opportunities to talented singers in our community. Through auditions, young aspiring performers (ages 16 +) from the Southwest Florida region receive free private training and paid performance opportunities in community concerts and opera productions. Participants receive individualized studies, solo performance opportunities, and section leader and support roles in opera productions. Trainees develop tools for success such as poise, stage presence, and confidence, giving them a competitive edge to increase opportunities as vocal soloists.
GO Divas
GO Divas is Gulfshore Opera’s exciting, new, all-female vocal group. Comprised of six beautiful young ladies with finishing school degrees in music, they perform a variety of classical vocal ensembles featuring rich harmonies.
Professional Artists Workshop
Career path: Young Florida-based professional opera singers join GO for a 5-day workshop to refine their audition package. GO Music Director Maestro Jorge Parodi will join General Director Steffanie Pearce to help these promising young artists refine their repertoire and maximize their impact at management and company auditions.

GO Ambassadors

GO Ambassadors is a volunteer support group for the organization, its charter is to network and promote GO events, increase ticket sales and revenues, organize intimate Social Outreach fundraisers, and promote Youth Engagement programs, especially the Harmony Choir, Talented Teens, and Emerging Artists. Ambassadors are the cheerleaders for Gulfshore Opera, and its Committee members can be found at performances and events, greeting ticket holders and friends with a smile.

Since GO covers three counties, we welcome volunteers from Punta Gorda to Marco Island to join. The group generally meets about six times during the year in person or on Zoom. Board Member Beverly Wernette chairs the group, and she’s always looking for recruits.

Volunteers

Join Our Team of Performers, Volunteers & Contributors Volunteers are a crucial part of the operation of the Gulfshore Opera, whether you are a:

• Front-of-House Volunteers:Greet, take tickets, and usher during performances. First-come, first-served.

• Back Stage Volunteers: Assist production teams with costumes, wardrobe, stage, or set crew.

• Harmony Choir Volunteers: Support music education teachers at events, concerts, and field trips.

• Opera Chorus: Skilled Adult Chorus and the Youth Opera Chorus (7-15) perform in full-scale opera productions. Auditions each fall.

House an Artist

We invite you to support Gulfshore Opera by hosting a visiting performer. Since only a few opera singers reside in Southwest Florida, we house most visiting artists during high season. By providing a bed/bath suite in your home for up to two weeks, you can help us continue bringing exceptional performances to the community. The artists are professionals who will work most days and evenings and have their transportation. As an Artist Housing Sponsor, you will be recognized in our playbills and receive two complimentary tickets to a performance. For details, contact Renee Ludwig at renee@gulfshoreopera.org
